According to ESPN, 21-year-old former Arsenal youth training player Billy Vega, who was injured when he was playing for England's sixth-tier team Chichester in a game last Saturday, hitting the cement wall on the sidelines and was injured. He died after ineffective treatment.
England Professional Football Players Association (PFA) CEO Mahta Morango said on Friday that it is necessary to launch a formal investigation into the accident. In fact, as early as two years ago, Morango urged the FA to take action on such issues, and Morango's call for investigation was responded to by Chichester constituency MP Brown-Fuller. The FA said it was "deeply saddened" by Vega's death and stated: We will start the review work immediately now. We will cooperate with all parties in the league, clubs and relevant stakeholders in the football field, focusing on the safety of the surrounding walls and borders of the courts within the national league system. The statement also stated that the review will include exploring various avenues to assist clubs in the national league system to identify safety risks in their stadiums and implement additional measures they believe will help reduce potential safety risks.
