According to the Telegraph, a female city councillor in Los Angeles mistakenly thought Son Heung-min for an American and promised to provide Son Heung-min with the support he needed to win the World Cup for the United States.
Son Heung-min declared that he "come here to win" when he debuted at his new boss Los Angeles FC after finishing his ten-year career in Tottenham.
However, Los Angeles City Councilman Heather Hart told the striker that everyone in Los Angeles is looking forward to the U.S. National Team winning the World Cup next year and will help Son Heung-min achieve the feat.
"When the World Cup comes, we look forward to the US winning here in Los Angeles," Los Angeles City Councilman Hart told Son Heung-min on the stage of the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles FC. "We are here to support you in achieving this goal."
