British media "The Sun" reported that Manchester United has poached Arsenal's public relations director Robert Forton, who will join the public relations team in 2026.
Forton has been at Arsenal for six and a half years and will strengthen United's understaffed press office. The addition of another PR person is expected to offset the imminent departure of press officer Andrew Ward.
Ward joined Manchester United six years ago and was initially responsible for leading corporate communications, but following the departure of Charlie Brooks in 2022, he was promoted to chief communications director.
Senior press officer Karen Shortbolt left shortly after Brooks' departure, while Toby Craig, who worked with chief executive Omar Berada at Manchester City, was appointed as United's new communications director last summer.
George McCaffrey took on the role of director of football communications this summer and currently attends press conferences with Amorim. McCaffrey moved to United seven years ago and is the only remaining member of the press office.
